Reading Partners LA, Los Angeles, CA (2023 – 2025)

Van tutored kinder through first graders from South Central LA in reading, engaged in training on how to tutor kids through using organization's software to support students in progressive curriculum

Global Leadership Adventures, Costa Rica (2022)

Van built greenhouses for schools in developing areas, constructed a garden in a valley that included digging, hoeing, shoveling, weed whacking, planting and drilling. He also translated local Spanish for fellow students!

Windward School Ambassador, Los Angeles, CA (2021 – 2025)

Van has informed prospective parents about curriculum, social life, and history of Windward School necessitating strong knowledge of these aspects of school including student body makeup, performing arts, buildings under construction, etc. He has conducted tours of school for prospective students and families, Zoomed with prospective parents about student life, responded to questions during Q & A sessions, attended admissions events to talk to students and parents and worked with admissions to interview new teachers and provide feedback from student perspective.

Hollywood Food Coalition (2020 – Present)

Van has packaged lunches and essential items for distribution to the unhoused with family every weekend since the beginning of COVID.
